explain why so many people are out buying guns right now? I stood in a line for 3 hours the other day to get in to the gun show and there were over 3,000 people in there buying trading and selling guns. Not just white people either, I would say about a quarter of them were black, and a third were Asian and a lot of Mexicans and they were all saying they wanted to buy guns before Obama banned weapons.He banned assault rifles, hand guns, and hunting rifles in Illinois when he was a Senator, so why is he and his followers saying he is not going to ban guns yet they are buying guns up like theyre going out of style?
Buying, selling and trading guns is actually a great way to make extra money when you need it, and Obama said he does want to ban gun shows because felons can buy guns at gun shows without having to get a background check- I agree with that part of it.But not the entire gun ban
So in other words Obama is going to do like the Government did with cigarettes and keep raising the taxes on guns? Why can’t they just leave us be to do what we want with our lives?
To the person who asked about how many looked like criminals- Most of the people who attend the gun shows are elderly. Men and women in their 70’s, but the other day I saw a ton of young people there which is pretty rare, and to buy guns from the vendors- You have to pass a background check.

My speculation on Obama’s gun views were not enough to keep me from voting for him, but rest assured that if he were to become radical about this issue and impose rigid restrictions on gun ownership in general (i.e. handguns and rifles), I will not vote for him a second time. I honestly doubt that will happen, however.

Who needs an ‘assault rifle’? Nobody besides law enforcement, if you ask me, and I’m not sure if they have or need them.
Hey, let them buy ‘em up, maybe it’ll help the economy.
Obama would never be successful in an attempt to change or overturn the 2nd amendment, their guns are safe. It’s the assault weapons that are needing stricter regulations.

Obama couldn’t implement a national gun ban even if he wanted to. Apparently you’re not familiar with the recent Heller US Supreme Court case. Moreover, Congress passes laws, not the President.
The reason people are stocking up on guns is that they are deluded by questions like yours into thinking Obama has powers he doesn’t have and wouldn’t want to exercise anyway.

He doesn’t have to “ban” guns to make them extremely difficult to get.
All he has to do is raise taxes on them and on ammunition an insane amount. Just like he plans to do to everything else.
What you’ve been hearing about a BAN is an ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN.
It’s a ban the democrats put into place a decade ago, that was vague to the extreme. It basically said as long a gun had a high capacity magazine or could shoot relatively fast it would be taxed or banned outright if possible.

He plans to go about it in a way that doesn’t appear to be a ban. First, by taxing the ammo so high, it makes it unaffordable, second, required child proofing that will make the cost something unreachable for most Americans. If he cannot and does not attack the 2nd amendment, he will achieve it through the Global Poverty Act. This act is his baby, he authored some of it (I know..he actually authored something), and it will commit 7% of US GDP to the UN to distribute as they see fit and then has a sanction to bear small arms in the act.

I don’t think it is fear of taking our guns away but the way the stock market has been going down there may be mass rioting. Which is why many want a gun to protect their homes and belongings, if for any reason the monetary system should fail altogether.

I am bored with this question. There are more important things to worry about right now and the 2nd Amendment protects your right to own firearms. No president in the history of this nation has the right to make a outright ban without the Congress voting on such legisature. The politicians in Congress have grossly varied opinions on guns and a complete ban of weapons is really impossible.
A president is not a king or emperor… the entire Congress would vote on something like a ban. But if they take the time in the middle of a economic crisis (which they won’t) then so what if you can’t buy a grenade launcher… you’ll still able to own your rifle or your handgun

There is a concern that certain guns will be banned or made extremely hard to obtain making the price eventually soar as it did with Clinton’s ban.What you are seeing are people trying to get a jump on these bans before the restrictions go into effect & prices rise. Many investors are going the gun route because they may be able to buy cheap & sell high on quality merchandise. Gun &Knife shows are an old tradition that goes back when I was a kid starting out. They are a great way to supplement income & a social event involving people from all over - many look forward to these & some rely on them for income in their retirement.Leave it to the liberals to once more take away a freedom that we have enjoyed for many years - criminals seldom get to purchase & these dealers aren’t stupid enough to get involved in that mess( their good name is on the line) If the gun shows go, will the military collectors shows go next or the knife & sword collectors? Many of these people have their whole lives invested in these collections & at the drop of a hat some *** clown wants to change it? The shows aren’t what the problem is - it’s the back alley dealers & the criminals themselves. To throw everyone into one category & say law passed is definitely something we’ve been fighting against since this nation first started. What really lies deeper is the weakening of the people by gradual chipping away at certain key points in their rights.Most never realize it until it lands personally in their laps.I’m not saying that we should’nt have regulations & rules , but when everyone is at the mercy of goverment regulation, total bans are just around the corner masked in concern & lies by the liberal lunatics & totalitarian agendas.
