I am not sure if it affected anyone else like it did me, but seeing the absolute desperation of Conservative voters and politicians to keep a hold of power combined with the violent rhetoric (”Kill Him” at Palin rallies and an overabundance of subtle assassination threats and innuendo on conservative talk radio and on internet sites such as Yahoo Answers) got me to go out to my local gun shop last weekend to purchase a few more rifles and 1 new handgun…and soon I will be shopping around for an AK or something similar.

Watching all those “Obama’s gonna take away our guns” Conservatives flocking to the gun stores in the days following Obama’s win made me think that maybe I should also get down to the local gunstore before they run out of guns and I find myself underprotected and surrounded by illogical, self-righteous, ****** and really ticked off redneck conservatives with a dozen guns each.

I do not like that idea at all…in fact, it is a scary idea and one that I have no intention of seeing fulfilled, which is why my stockup began this past weekend.

Am I being silly or practical?

Regardless, conservatives are snapping up every gun on every shelf…and I find it really hard to just think they want a stockpile of weapons in case the deer population explodes.

It’s quiet sad that people cannot be safe in school.
What surprised me more than the shootings themself are that, Americans are now pushing to have more guns available. I don’t know if this is odd to other americans, but in Australia, we are actually pushing for the exact opposite.

Hillary Clinton who is now Obama’s future Secretary of State, has said that she will work to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban during the recent Democrat primaries because she feels that these guns are illegal to own. Her position has not changed and I believe that she will have a big influence and possibly “control” over Obama regarding the Assault Weapons Ban gun control policies. I am afraid that Obama will sign into law such political blunder, I remember that Obama said that “We should keep AK-47’s out of the hands of criminals” but remember that not all AK-47 owners are “criminals”, law abiding citizens also own them.

I’m middle class. You know, in that 40k-60k barely insured, working poor income range. I bought 20 acres of rural land down in Missouri and abandoned the city cesspool. I love my new life. I hunted and killed two deer this year. They are now in my freezer. I have substituted venison for beef for the whole year. Why would you gun control fanatics take away my ability to do this? The nearest police station is an hour away. They can’t protect me from criminals. Why would you take that right away as well? I just don’t get it. If you want to ban guns on city streets, fine. I avoid cities like the plague. (been there, done that, hated it) But why should your rules and morals apply to me?

Ideally, there would be no gun control at all, as it is unconstitutional. However, regardless of Heller, I think that the fight is going to become more heated than ever before. Mark my words, we are looking at multiple assault weapons bans in 2009.

President-elect Barack Obama has just stated that he is going to tax ammunition 500% as well as all handguns and semi-automatic weapons. He said he wants to permanantly ban all hanguns, semi-auto’s, and some shotguns. He also wants to do away with the ‘grandfather clause’ and make it illegal to possess any guns purchased before his ban goes into effect. You will have to wait for 30 days to buy a gun. He and Biden are also proposing reinstating a ‘much stronger’ version of the 1994-2004 Clinton gun ban that the Republican Congress let expire in 2004. This new band would be permanent without being up for renewal option! Basically they are disarming law abiding citizens, but doing so in small increments. With The Democrats having a fillibuster proof Majority in the Senate and House, Obama will be able to implement and pass this gun control on America as the numbers are there in the Senate. They already have 58 seats out of 100. No, I am not a Republican, and am darn sure not a Democrat. I am an American that votes 3rd party every time. Who agrees with me that the cities they ban guns in have the highest crime rates? A criminal can get a gun anywhere. This legislation is targeted at LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and nothing more. Do you agree with what they said they are going to do on January 20, 2009, by signing the confiscation of guns into law? Look at the President-elect’s voting record as a Senator on every piece of gun legislation in the past. Who in their right mind would allow a 500% tax on ammunition and all guns? People have told me ‘Congress won’t let him do it’, however I disagree as they have enough of a majority to do whatever they want for the next 2 years. So, the question of the day is…Do you agree with what they are doing come January or are you for it??? When is enough enough? Sincerely, an average American struggling to pay the mortgage and keep gas in my car. No I am not a right winger or a gun freak either. This coming legislation just seems very disturbing to me.

People are asking for my sources. Well, here they are…Us senate.gov(look at his voting record) and NRA. People are accusing me of lying already. Check it out people, they are going to do this stuff. They have 58 senate seats so far out of 100 with 2 races still up in the air. What more sources are needed folks? Peace out.

People need to stop shooting with one hand and learn that holding a pistol with 2 hands is the proper way to exercise gun control. What’s so bad about that?
